the echo chamber
Since I work at a MSFT shop, read a bunch of .NET/C#/Silverlight blogs, and live in Seattle, I’ve become paranoid about K thinking I’m too pro-Microsoft. I try to avoid being pigeon-holed by waxing about Apple occasionally, but he doesn’t seem to like that either. You just can’t win. Anyway, in case my last post was too positive on MSFT’s progress, I thought I’d share something with you that I find deeply amusing, and very telling.
Here’s a screenshot from Windows 7, in particular, their ‘new’ Windows LIVE Messenger. Anyone spot something ugly?

Apparently I’m more bothered by ads than… software developers at Microsoft. It’s bad enough to have to look at them online when someone doesn’t have Adblock installed — but honestly what’s the point in making real strides in your UI by getting rid of the clutter and improving workflow, only to let some 3rd party puke all over it? Seriously, why bother?
