Just finished A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. It ranks up there w/ The Moral Animal in terms of books I can’t stop telling people to read (kind of an odd habit for someone who reads as few books as I do). E may not realize this, but we’re founding a book club, and ASHoNE and TMA are on the list of required titles so far. Non-fiction is apparently my favorite genre to read, and in particular things that discuss evolution as it relates to species and cultures. Perhaps I should scour the NY Times bestseller list for more titles. Spring is around the corner, though, and I’m curious to see if my work-week tendency to eat soup while reading at SCUR succumbs to peer-pressure, driving me away from the building in search of food with friends.

That’s all for now. This post was a blatant attempt to increase my post-per-month ratio. Remind me to take more pictures and put them on flickr (winter is not a good enough excuse). Also to help Ryan out w/ Catavino and link the results here.

One other thing: I think the people who designed facebook feel the way I do about myspace. Or is it just because I’m using adblock that the design and functionality seem much, much better.

she won’t start a blog, so i’m going to have to tell the world that she’s selling her house! sweet. one step closer to needlessly overweight cats and a warmer climate.

odogg’s post got me thinking about my 3 general breakfast practices:

  1. best breakfast bagel evar:
    • one bagel, lightly toasted
    • one egg, nuked in tea cup w/ plate on top for 1 min., or until it goes BANG!, whichever comes last.
    • couple slices o’ swiss cheese, melted over other ingredients
    • thinly sliced summer sausage, also microwaved w/ cheese/bagel in order to create a concave object.
    • liberal use of sri-racha all over
  2. yoghurto, muesli, milk, and bran buds
  3. starbooka’s: vanilla latte, shared w/ compatriot, and sometimes a croissant. I should note that when in minneap., as opposed to st. pizzle, java jack’s is the location of choice.

lunch has been a bit different the past couple of weeks. in the absence of lunchtime talks, where developers would give weekly presentations on areas of interest/active development, i’ve been getting even more into the groove as far as my soup/applesauce/bill bryson repertoire is concerned. i highly recommend “A Short History of Nearly Everything”. lots of good trivia for parties, so far.
