don’t let cygwin (other *nixes seem to get it right) dick you around. if you’ve got slow man pages, investigate MANPATH. check this out:
/usr/local/man : /usr/man : /usr/share/man : /usr/autotool/devel/man :: /usr/ssl/man
don’t even ask me what a ‘::’ in a path means… search all network drives? if the previous entry doesn’t exist, sleep for 5 seconds? you’ll have to take my word for it. man pages took about 10 seconds to load. you know something’s up when you’ve disabled the crap out of antivirus and text takes a long time to display.

in other news, i got to try out a new route (with pretty mile markers) this morning. i’m still in the process of finding the optimal path to the inter-campus-connection, so i’m not sure how accurate this is, but it’s a pretty good approximation. it does help that team SCUR™ has moved to a new location.
