d. hendler had his b-day celebration recently. everyone who didn’t go (i say as i realize how many i forgot to invite) should be sad they missed so many different people mingling so well. a pleasure to experience.
i’ve been noticing drummers recently. first, martin dosh of lateduster with his flaming lips/squarepusher-like rhythms and second, ej strickland, ravi coltrane’s drummer. kid dakota’s christopher mcguire is unbelievable to watch but it’s the unpredictablity of the other two that i find so engaging. i guess it also helps if you’re tall, skinny, have a beard and wear a baseball hat.
i’d like to think i’m ramping up for the spring w/ new biking enthusiasm. with an oiled chain, a trued rear-wheel and an “i’ll either fix it or break it by trying too hard” odometer that should start working soon, i’m ready for 60 degree weather and skin cancer.
i never did mention driving up to TEAM SCUR™ to take pictures while on rotation. the white tanks of diesel around roseville are just begging for someone to take their portraits. i can’t help but think they catch the light at least as well as your average haystack. the only problem is, i’m a pansy… and am afraid of getting arrested for suspected terrorism. thanks, kevin, for ignoring my affair with your tripod.

it’s still winter and therefore ok to work on mini nerd projects. oh-dog is to blame for having installed debian on his laptop. i followed suit, and then started reading tutorials for inkscape and the gimp. as if that weren’t enough, he installed the new wordpress, then watched and waited.
people read this website(!?!). i’m tempted to do what kottke did and quit my day job to post full-time. and by post, i mean work inefficiently on a new design that may or may not ever see the light of day. i’d like to think of this less as a redesign and more as the eventual implemenation of several things that were waiting to happen. 1) if i want to put up more images, the large ones must be hosted on cindy. 2) playing around with the gimp makes me want to continually change the title image. 3) i can use transparent pngs with IE thanks to this brilliant hack.
