i got my teeth fixed. 2 years with no dental work, now all of a sudden i get my teeth cleaned and have a cavity filled. so satisfying to know that things are in order orally.
a friend’s just been hired by speakeasy. his name rhymes with “lice bruin”. he starts work monday. it’s going to be all too tempting to compare ’support bay’ characteristics. apparently his has large leafy plants and incandescent lights. 2 points for speakeasy.
andrew and i are pretty pleased with the leaves outside. they’re dry underfoot and noisy when you walk through them. i catch myself daydreaming with how i’ll be spending my time this winter: reading books, working on the photo system, baking bread and listening to music. i’ll frequent coffee shops, eat ramen and read in the lunch room at secure.
i never thought i’d be able to say this: i just made it through ‘life of pi’ and am starting to read ’skinny legs and all.’

i’ve been doing my part drinking sam adams® to help the red sox win the playoffs (and now the world series). seems to be working. every evening that i’ve cracked open a bottle they’ve won.
i’m having some serious success with this whole avocado obsession. just several days after throwing the little guy in a can full of dirt, (hopeful plant snob that i am, i used potting soil) there is a definitive sprout making its way north (UP!). there’s also at least one basil seedling just barely poking through the dirt today. never would have thought these plants could make me so happy. i’ll have to bring some of them to work soon.
in other news, someone from russia tried to log into my system. good thing there isn’t a cisco/cisco account.
