having enjoyed the scenery and acquired a taste for vodka, the parents are back from europe. the sister is making her way to the west coast for year 2 of law school. a wise decision on her part, as i’ll be more likely to take a vacation and crash on her sparsely furnished apartment floor this time around.
turns out i fell off my bike a little harder than i suspected. or at least i did it awkwardly enough to taco my rear wheel. i would have been happy if i had bent the old rim. ruining the new one on the first ride wasn’t the most brilliant strategy. at least not when you want to ride your bike and forget that it’s still in the shop.
i’m unable to conceal my excitement over the lance and the tour. andrew and i received some LIVESTRONG bracelets in the mail from eden in texas and some shiner bock from a thoughtful fan nearby. now if only jan ullrich would show basso and klöden who’s boss.

got back on the bike yesterday and cruised around the greenway with andrew. the elbow still twinges and my rear wheel is slightly off true, but it’s hard to watch so much of the tour and not want to get your own ride on. especially with all the crashes they seem to be having.

it’s only 5:16 and the fat birds outside my window are harassing me already. i wonder if they wake up the poor tree they’re perched on as well.
it’s only tuesday and the week ahead is already looking good. i’m so glad. being able to do things besides go to work on monday makes for one chipper (despite the fact that he wants to kill some fat birds) technical support engineer.
it’s only july and already i’m worried about winter coming back. yesterday should have been warmer. this morning is too wet for a bike ride.
