the tv of oz
inflated, heavy, silver
living room space waste
our small new tv
refined, rectilinear
sexy, japanese
really. i can’t say how excited i am that andrew bought a tv. not because we like to watch it all day—although he did get it after i finished my bike ride, so we’ll see how tomorrow goes—but because it sets off our living room furniture in a very clean angular sort of way. now our speakers are wider apart, our vcr hidden, our stereo components emphasized and our bookshelf off center.
this weekend was going to be the weekend of large purchases. andrew’s held up his end of the bargain, but i was slow to make a decision at kenwood cyclery. it turns out the bike needs new tires. also, perhaps some new rims. i’m awfully curious how different it’ll feel afterwards.

sean and i don’t really surprise each other anymore. which is the way i like it. at this point, i think he may have even heard all of my favorite songs. so it was nice to hear tupac in his car. everyone needs a little variety.
you gotta operate the easy way
i made a g today
but you made it in a sleazy way
selling crack to the kids
i gotta get paid
well hey, well that’s the way it is
last weekend began with plenty of beer and ended with a bit more beer. saturday, thank god, was alkohol frei. the week broke into functions, parties, mobs of sunburned scandinavians, blatant insinuations, cat-related sneezes and serendipitous drugstore encounters. chapstick was appreciated, bill bryson’s astrological humor was discussed.

memories of conversations only a week old are beginning to vanish into oblivion. with whom was i speaking about brian ferry and the song in ‘lost in translation?’ i have my suspicions.
working in tech support changes your conversational strategy. i was talking to andrew about this. sometimes one enters ‘explain everything mode.’ it’s got to be (potentially) maddeningly frustrating for the customer. it usually gets triggered by a customer mis-speaking or flat out misunderstanding something. the more they mis-speak, the more i explain, the less they follow and the more desperate the situation becomes. i suspect all this explaining has made me much more long-winded since beginning this job. sometimes you’re lucky and the customer can listen at your pace. other times you’re astonished at what the customer has unlearned since the conversation started. amazing.
sean peterfreund’s coming to visit this weekend. we’ll see if my forehand’s still less wobbly than his ;). also, word on the street is that jan ullrich is losing weight and looking awfully sexy in that racing jersey of his.
