halloween
last night made chicken-marinated-in-tabasco stir fry with vegetables and carved a pumpkin for tonight. the first time i’ve ever carved a pumpkin before the day of halloween. no exciting costumes for me this year; my best idea is to dress up in my cycling shoes, T-Mobile racing jersey and biking gloves to appear Jan Ulrichesque.
can’t believe october is finished. i’ve been working at my current job now for six weeks. they’ve put me on the phones now and every once-and-awhile i’m able to solve a problem myself. most of the time i end up asking around for help, which can be tedious. i look forward to three weeks from now when, i have been advised, the calls begin to repeat.
as always, there are new things i have purchased. (this is silly). i bought a light designed for the interior of a tent to light up the closet where my clothes are stored. what a difference. i bought some gourmet floor mats at target™ for my automobile. i’m going to put rainX™ on the windshield.
it’s the nightly projects that take up my time. most nights i want to get snuggly (yes, i said it) with the couch and my book, but i’m often interrupted. dinner needs making, dishes need washing, linux needs installing, network needs configuring, laundry needs doing, clothes need folding, pumpkins need carving, bills need paying, life needs sorting. when i’ve come up for air, and want to read, it’s time to go to bed… or it’s time to talk to a housemate. this is by far a preferable situation to being bored out of my gourd, reading all of the time for survival. i’m just saying.
